A community of 40+ women weavers along the Kavango River, producing makalani palm baskets using designs passed through generations. The cooperative was founded in 2008 and now supports over 80 families. GN1 purchases directly at fair-trade prices, with a 15% premium above market rate reinvested into community education.
The Okahandja roadside market is one of Namibia's most famous craft destinations. The guild comprises over 120 master carvers, many of whom have been practicing their craft for 30+ years. Specialities include wildlife sculpture, traditional masks, and utensils carved from indigenous African woods.
